Palaces for the People

Since 2014 TCLP libraries have been more than just buildings; they’ve been safe spaces for people of all ages, castes, classes, religions, and genders meet, read, and think. These spaces have hosted educational workshops, cultural events, and fostered friendships.
However, we've faced repeated threats from neighbors due to caste, gender, and economic biases, and climate emergencies, which put our members at risk. We've lost two libraries due to forced relocations and are currently in rented spaces, with the possibility of losing our library again. The only way ahead is clearly for the library and community to be in possession of the land on which the library stands. Hence we are raising funds to buy land so that our library can have its forever-home.

Voice of our supporters

Launching soon: Brick by Brick

Picture - Sahil
Join us in building a space at the intersection of reading, rights, community, and justice. Our "Brick By Brick" campaign offers you the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy as a supporter of The Community Library Project. With your donation, we’ll engrave your name on a brick that will form the foundation of a permanent library space — one that serves as a safe sanctuary for all voices, and fosters a culture of reading and thinking. With your support, we endeavor to build more than just a building; we strengthen our commitment to equitable access for all.
Our Palaces For The People campaign has been a testament to the power of collective action. We strongly believe that we are in this together. Every brick you donate is a step closer to dismantling the systems that have historically kept access to books and reading out of reach for millions. With your contribution, you are not just helping us build access for now; you are investing in a movement. Together, we can work towards building a future where reading and a safe, equitable space, is a right, not a privilege.
Every brick you add is a piece of the larger vision, and the foundation for the future you want to see!

You can donate:

INR 1,00,000 and above for bronze brick
INR 5,00,000 and above for silver brick
INR 10,00,000 and above for gold brick
